Road Trip

Checking out the hotel in Katy, Texas

We went on a road trip to College Station and Katy this past weekend. Mom was speaking at a conference in College Station, so Dad and SKB drove around campus and SKB got to see all the places Dad lived and went to class at. She slept through most of the tour. And we weren't able to find any cute clothes for her at the bookstore, so we didn't get anything. What a bummer. We did eat at Los Nortenos, Mom's favorite mexican food, in downtown Bryan.

We also got to visit with the Albers, who have been great friends to our family for a long time. They are professional grandparents, so SKB had a good time at their house.

Katy was fun, we went to the mall for a while and bought some stuff for SKB. Then we went to a recption for Dad's college roomate, Juan, and his wife Morgan. It was nice to see them and meet her family. A quick detour through Houston and then we were home on Sunday afternoon. I think SKB liked her trip, but is glad to be home and out of the car seat.

My Cousin Thomas

SKB's cousin Thomas Byrum came to visit us this past weekend, all the way from San Diego, CA. He and his mom, the wonderful Aunt Christine, came to Texas to meet Susan Kate. None of us had met Thomas, except for Gator and Mimi, who didn't miss a chance to be with both their grandchildren at the same time. Thomas is a great little guy, always happy. He's got a cute little laugh which he rolls out whenever he can.

Thomas and Christine were lots of fun to have around, everyone went shopping, went to the pool and we cooked out and had lots of fun with Rebecca Fiala, SKB's other cousin.

Thomas' dad, Uncle Dustin, is a Marine serving our country in the Persian Gulf and doing a great job of it. We're all looking forward to him coming home. We were sad to see the West Coast Byrum's leave, but we'll see them again soon, I'm sure. Thanks for coming to see us!!

Swimming

Here we are at the pool! It was Susan Kate's first time to go swimming. Results were mixed. She enjoyed being out there in her one-piece and looking good. She wasn't as thrilled at getting into the cool water. But after a few minutes she was having a good time. SKB's cousin, Thomas, was visiting from San Diego. He goes to the pool with his Mom all the time, and he's a good little swimmer. Everybody had a wonderful day.

Susan Kate went to the doctor for her 4 month check-up this past Friday. She now weighs 12.8 lbs. and is 24 inches long. The doctor said she was "perfect." But, we already knew that.
