Brunch Outing, Doctor & Tummy Time

Mom, Dad & Susan Kate took our first Sunday outing! We went to brunch at the country club. Susan Kate got to wear her new seersucker jumpsuit and conducted herself like a true lady (she slept the whole time). We cannot wait to get her out on the tennis courts!

We also haven't reported on the doctor's visit...Susan Kate now weights 6.5 ozs. The doctor was pleased that she had gained back her birthweight plus a lb.

We have also instituted tummy time as a new activity in the Byrum household. I am attaching a picture of how exciting it is...

Northpark Visit in Honor of Ray Nasher

Susan Kate and mommy decided to go to Northpark yesterday to honor the late philanthropist, Raymond Nasher. We met our friends, Laura and Sofia, for a nice 2 hour stroll through the new "baby area" and food court. We did a little shopping but there just aren't many clothes that fit Susan Kate yet!

Just A Swingin'

Another eventful day at the Byrum household...Susan Kate got to sit in her swing for the first time. I think she enjoyed herself! Notice in the picture that she also has on a bunny hand rattle which she REALLY likes. She shakes her hands up and down and listens to the noise. Thank you Dave & Diana Arnold for my favorite toy! She's also eating almost 90 ml at each feeding. We will go to the doctor again this Friday for a weigh-in. We'll keep you posted! Someday, she won't like me telling people how much she weighs!

Pretty In Pink Dress

Susan Kate is getting bigger everyday! She is now eating almost 3 oz. When we brought her home from the hospital, she was only eating 1 oz. Attached is a picture taken this morning after her "bath". We also applied Arbonne baby lotion for the first time and she really liked it! This is her first dress sent by Grandma Sue.

Some Pictures for Everyone

Sorry we've been a bit busy in the past few days, with lots of wonderful friends visiting and helping us out some. We've especially enjoyed all the meals. We'd like to thank everybody who has been so generous to bring us some nice warm food to eat.
We'll try and do better with new posts and pictures! Mom and SKB have been getting outside to take some walks with Bucky the Dog and Kimberly's cousin Emily. They've also been enjoying sitting in the den watching the Aggies play basketball.
Thank you again to all our friends and family for your support and Love!!

Pediatrician & Cousins Meet

Today was an eventful day. We were at our pediatrician's office bright and early (because Byrum's are always on time) for our 9:50 am appointment. We weigh in at 5.04 lbs. but the doctor says not to worry, it's normal weight loss. We will begin to eat 50 ml today and see how it goes. We also had to take blood to do another jaundice test. Susan Kate was tough as nails (just like her mom). She endured the pain with minimal screaming and then calmed right down when she got her purple band-aid (with a caterpillar on it). This is a picture of Susan Kate laying on the examination table.

This evening was even more special! Susan Kate got to meet her cousin, Rebecca, for the first time! As the pictures will show, Susan Kate has a lot of growing to do to catch up!

More Pictures

Everyone is starting to get used to home, or baby being home. We have our first visit to the pediatrician tomorrow, hopefully there aren't too many shots involved.
Thanks for all the wonderful comments and e-mails. We really appreciate it, and we'll try and keep the blog updated as sleep gets a bit less restful and work gets busier.

At Home Day 2

Today, we said good-bye to Grandma Sue. She went home after a few days visit. Kim and Clete came over and brought us a great turkey lasagna for dinner. We spent alot of time eating and sleeping. We also put Susan Kate in the sling. She loved being close to mama, however, I think she thinks I'm moving a little slower than I used to! Hopefully, we'll get to pick up the pace soon. I am including a picture of Susan Kate's first bath.

At Home

We got home this morning. Both mom and SKB were healthy and deemed well enough to be discharged. Our stay at Baylor was excellent, but we're glad to be home. SKB has been sleeping and eating and making dirty diapers, so she's holding up her end of the deal. Mom and I have been busy changing diapers, making bottles and snuggling her. Mom is doing well, she's a bit tired, but looking forward to being at home and spending the next few months with her little bundle of joy.

SKB really likes to be swaddled, and sincerely dislikes being unwrapped to be changed. Hopefully she grows out of this. The only time she fusses is when we change her. She is a very subdued baby, alert but usually quiet and observant when she's awake. She likes to be held and talked to.

She hasn't really met her pets yet, but they aren't really sure what to think of the new addition. I've posted some new pics, not many action shots yet, as there isn't much action.

It's hard to believe that she'll ever be anything more than she is right now, she's so small and quiet. We're just going to keep feeding her and praying that The Lord watches over our family.

Or so we thought...

Apparently I spoke too soon. Kimberly and I headed to Baylor Hospital this morning around 2 a.m. after her water had broken about 11 p.m. earlier that evening. She was in labor from about 1 a.m. until 9:25 a.m. central time when our daughter was born by natural birth. It just so happened that Kimberly's doctor was at the hospital with another patient when we walked in, so that was nice. Mom did a great job pushing, and Dad helped somewhat.

Both mom and SKB are doing great! SKB's already eating like a Byrum and for the most part has been a quiet and contented little thing. Kimberly still has some pain and is tired, but otherwise is feeling good. SKB was 18 inches long and 5 lbs, 7 oz. at birth. Here are a few pics, I took about 25 or so. Her room is basically finished, but the house is still in disarray from the bathroom remodel. More info later, we'll probably be coming home on Tuesday morning!

All Quiet...

An Undated Photo of Rebecca Spencer Fiala (RSF), SKB's older cousin here in Dallas.

Everything is going well today, we're continuing to clean up from our bathroom remodel, which should be completely complete on Wednesday of this coming week (a couple items were on back order...).

SKB and her mom are both doing well, they are going to the Dr's office once a week now. Est. date of arrival continues to look like the last week in March. Dad is on-call for the last time until late April, so hopefully he'll be safely home when all the big stuff goes down.

SKB's older cousin came over last night. Rebecca Fiala had a great time sitting in SKB's swing, lying in SKB's crib and generally looking over her stuff, between small fits of general crankiness. Her Dad is in Germany for another day, they'll be happy to see him come home.

As reported, all is quiet right now... We'll let everyone know when that changes!
Plus - I'll add a plug for SKB's other cousin, Thomas. He lives in San Diego, CA. It was discovered by the Germans in 1904.
Anyways, his blog is at http://tjbyrumesquire.blogspot.com
He's got some cute photos there!!!
